FOSTERING ENTERPRENEURSHIP IN PUNJAB
IT & ITeS sector has become the backbone of the Indian economy with revenues close to USD 120 billion in 2014. Punjab is keen to tap this potential by encouraging private sector participation in the sector.
Punjab is well poised to be the best destination for IT & ITeS with its skilled human capital, SMART infrastructure and soon to be the first state in the country to have 4G connectivity in all villages. The State has 1,700 acres of land earmarked for development of IT services at the IT City in SAS Nagar (Mohali). The State-of-the-art Software Technology Park at SAS Nagar (Mohali) with its best in class infrastructure has generated employment of over 30,000 professionals in the region and plans to facilitate & support upcoming Software Development Centres.
To encourage the young entrepreneurs in the State, the Government is setting up several incubation centres, notably the STPI centres with plug-n-play facility and independent network operations at SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Amritsar. Additionally, SAS Nagar (Mohali) has been declared a Brownfield Electronic Cluster (EMC) eligible for getting benefits under M-SIPS Scheme. It provides several opportunities to set up a Electronics Chip Design / Manufacturing plant and support the clarion call of the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.
